Gulp!

Gulp! is a 1-player arcade game for the BBC Micro.

Ernie the lion tamer has been challenged to set a new world record for plunging his head into the lions' mouths. Unfortunately, Ernie has fallen out with the boss, and the lions are looking a little peckish over the last few days.

Ernie tries to climb four levels of danger, with a ladder present on each end. Ernie can move left, right, climb up and down ladders, and jump over rats and snakes as they slither across the screen. Sixteen lions, four on each row, are present. These lions mostly have their mouths open, but sometimes close them. To pass a lion, Ernie must either pass while the lion's mouth is closed, or stick his head in the lion's mouth before moving past. If the lion closes its mouth while Ernie is in position, then Ernie loses his head. Numerous small creatures must be jumped over, or the player can stand on the lion platforms to let them past.

There are five levels of game difficulty, which effect game speed, how often the lions close their mouth, and the number of enemies.
