Gwendoline

Gwendoline is a French 2D platformer about a knight who needs to rescue his fiancée Gwendoline who has been kidnapped and locked up in castle. The knight can move around, jump, use ladders (only to go up, but not descend) and attack with a sword. There are 38 screens in total to explore. Opponents are mainly knights, but there are also stones that fall down and other dangers, including a time limit that subtracts from the initial six lives with every second ticking away. Health can be restored by eating food such as apples or roaster. There is also ale that can be drunk, but to emulate intoxication movement then becomes more difficult: it reverses left and right while walking, but not while jumping.
