Hair Nah

Description
Hair Nah is a short game made in response to what the developer calls the perverse action of touching a Black woman's hair without permission and the micro-aggression of assumed authority and ownership of black bodies. On a single, fixed-screen, the face of a Black woman called Aeva is shown using a front view. Before starting the game the player gets to customize the woman's face and her hair. She wants to travel but does not always feel safe.
For 60 seconds hands appear from different directions attempting to touch the woman's hair. The player has to interfere and swat them away. In the browser version this is done by clicking or using the arrow keys, making a hand appear, while in the arcade version this is done through real-time motion tracking. By swatting well a Nah! meter is filled and it needs to be full before time runs out. If you miss a hand or swat too much the meter goes down. The travel locations are Osaka (Japan), Havana (Cuba) and Santa Monica Pier (USA).
