Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (included games)

Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets comes in a keep case sized card slip case inside which is a card gate-fold, four panel disc holder. The set consists of two discs, the movie is on Disc 1 and the bonus material containing interactive games are on Disc 2, the Special Features disc.

An animated introduction takes the player to a student's study where the following options are available;

• Additional Scenes: This is accessed via the fireplace hotspot, it contains scenes that were not included in the film, they are shown in a picture gallery and can be played individually or consecutively via a "Play All" option
• Lockheart's Classroom: triggered by the doorway on the left of the screen. Here the player has three hotspots to interact with, one shows Gilderoy Lockheart's pictures, another shows his certificates and a third shows his books. Each option has an audio commentary but none of them is truly interactive, for example the player can move from one book to another but the books cannot be opened.
• Spellcaster Knowledge: Triggered by selecting the wand on the study's desk. This is a quiz based on spells cast by various characters in the film, the scene plays up to the point where the spell is cast and the player has to choose what happened as a result from three possible answers. If an incorrect answer is given the game moves to the next question without revealing the answer, if it is correct the remainder of the scene is played.
• Game Preview: There are four pictures on the study wall, one takes the player to six short rolling demos of the game of the film
• Extra Credit: This option is accessed via the scrolls on the desk and it brings up a message saying there are features which can only be accessed by putting the DVD into a computer, there's also a short animated preview of these features.
• Behind Hogwarts: Also triggered by one of the scrolls on the desk, this contains a conversation with J. K. Rowling; Dumbledore's Office - which includes a tour of the office and a short video showing how it was built; Interviews with students, professors etc; and a Gallery of Production Sketches
• Activities: The third and final scroll triggers a feature which includes;
  • The Chamber Challenge: Harry is on his way to the Chamber of Secrets. Along the way he's spotted by various characters Filch the caretaker, Professor Snaith etc, and each person poses a series of challenges which are based on the film. These are multiple choice questions such as who owns which pet, in what order were the students attacked by the Basilisk etc. Eventually the player reaches and enters The Chamber Of Secrets where they use the arrow keys on the DVD remote to negotiate the Basilisk's maze
  • The Forbidden Forest Challenge: Stuck in the Forbidden Forest the player must navigate their flying car back to Hogworts using the arrow keys on the remote. If the player takes a wrong turn their car will save them - but only three saves are allowed per attempt. Fail to escape and the player is eaten by spiders.
  • Tour Diagon Ally: Here the player uses the DVD remote to take a walk down Diagon Alley. They can enter some of the shops but this is not an interactive game.
  • Colin's Darkroom: This is where the player can create their own picture gallery from the supplied photographs

When the DVD is in the player's computer they prompted to install the InterActual player through which the Extra Credit features are accessed. This player will not run on a Macintosh.

The InterActual Extra Credit menu has links to features require access to internet sites, these seem to have been redirected via interactual.com and, in 2019, are no longer available. Originally they would have been links to:

There are features referred to on the slipcase cover which are not present on the disc and it is assumed these were accessed on the official site, these include a screen saver that could be downloaded; fifteen activities such as jigsaws and sliding puzzles among which were *Colin Creevey's Photo Hunt*; *Polyjuice Pairs* - a Concentration style game; *Transformation Tiles* a sliding block game; the Official Hogwarts Timeline and a feature that allowed the user to "Magically control your computer with your voice!"

Functioning activities that are on the disc include:

    - a desktop wallpaper in three sizes
    - Printable items including foldable posters, a Hogwarts great Hall cut-out model; and three mazes - all printable documents open in Adobe Acrobat.
