Hollow Knight
Description
Hollow Knight is a Metroidvania action-adventure game that combines exploration and combat within a dark, insect-infested subterranean world. Players control a silent, insectoid warrior descending into the ruins of Hallownest - a fallen kingdom decimated by a supernatural infection - unraveling lore through exploration, acquiring abilities, and facing formidable bosses.
Players navigate interconnected regions of Hallownest via precision platforming and fluid combat using a melee "Nail" and magical spells. The game features deep systems like Soul-powered healing and magic, the equipping of Charms for abilities customization, and an organic map-discovery process tied to in-world mapmakers and benches as save points. Fast travel is enabled through stag stations and other unlockable modes.
Developed by the independent studio Team Cherry, it debuted on February 2017. Later relaunched as Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition in September 2018, which bundles all four free content expansions - Hidden Dreams, The Grimm Troupe, Lifeblood, and Godmaster - while also offering tuning and bug fixes, a refined menu style, and balance adjustments to the challenging Godmaster content.
