Hummer

Game cover: Hummer

Description

Hummer is a licensed arcade racing game that features three Hummer models (H1, H2, H3) each with two different tuning options. The vehicles can be controlled from either a third-person perspective or a bonnet view. There are four different racecourses, all of which are circuit tracks: Bluster Canyon, Isolated Canyon, Caribou Valley and Industrial Hill. Each contains jumps as well as obstacles that can be smashed into. The game uses a boost system which accumulates when obstacles are destroyed. Once it has been fully charged, the player can accelerate rapidly for a given amount of time. Bonus boost can be earned by landing well after a jump which is done by releasing the gas and then pushing it again right before landing. While boosting, it is possible to take down opponents by rear-ending them which leads to a bonus boost. Any boost gaining action performed during a boost will also result in a combo.

The game contains two singleplayer modes (race and time attack) as well as a versus mode. In the race mode, the player competes against 19 CPU drivers while in the time attack mode the player competes against ghost data in an attempt to get the best time. Both modes are over when the timer reaches zero but more time is added by reaching checkpoints or completing laps. The versus mode can be played by up to four players. When a player crosses the finishing line, the other players will only have ten seconds to finish or else the race will end.
