Interactive Buddy

Game cover: Interactive Buddy

Description

Interactive Buddy is a sandbox simulation game in which the player can use a variety of tools or weapons to interact with a single character made up of six circles, the "buddy." The game is composed of a single static room, the buddy, and an early Windows-like program menu from which the player may select weapons, items, features, modes, or skins. Interacting with the buddy in any way, whether violently or cordially, grants the player money, which they can use to unlock more tools of their choice. The player initially starts with a few items such as a fist, a tickle, and a grenade, but can eventually purchase more complex tools such as bowling balls, machine guns, gravity vortexes, alternate body physics, and even access to the scripting engine.

The buddy displays simple personality behaviors and reacts to the player's interactions, such as running away from grenades, saying voice lines (if a skin is equipped), and displaying symbols such as smiley or frowny faces in speech bubbles. A face in the top left of the game's interface displays the buddy's current mood, which can change either positively or negatively depending on the player's interactions with the buddy. There are no goals or endings for the game.
