Jackie Chan in The Protector

Jackie Chan is the super detective of the South Bronx Precinct of the New York City Police Department. One day, designer Lola is kidnapped from the fashion show venue he was guarding. Jackie follows her to Hong Kong and learns that a drug syndicate is operating behind the scenes. After tracking down the syndicate's drug factory, Jackie sets out to rescue the girl.

Jackie Chan in The Protector is an action platform game inspired by the 1985 Jackie Chan film of the same name. Each stage shows a single screen with several platforms on which two or three enemies with weapons in hand, are waiting for Jackie. Each enemy has a different attack routine. Some will hit with their weapon while they move, like Benny Garucci, a man wearing a jersey top and bottom wielding an electric saw. Others can perform ranged attacks, such as the knife-throwing Bronx Kid (wears pink with a mohawk), Mr. Kō, a nasty looking guy (wears a navy blue top and bottom) who uses a pistol or Kim Taijin (wears a light blue jersey) who throws dynamite everywhere. There is also David Ho who is usually on the upper floor and keeps throwing large boxes. The object of the game is to clear each stage by defeating all the enemies on the screen.

Jackie is able to move left and right, jump, wide jump, crouch, punch, flying kicks and low kicks. Its also possible to use high techniques such as jumping with a run-up or kicking a wall to change the angle of the jump (as Jackie did in the movie). There are also trampolines and hanging rings on the screen that allow Jackie to reach certain areas, such as the upper floors, that cannot be reached by jumping.

Jackie has 3 lives and an energy bar that can withstand up to 5 hits.
