Description

JumpStart Spy Masters: Unmask the Prankster is an educational game that has minigames for math, history, and language. The Prankster has reprogrammed the robot factory in Arcadea to create waves of renegade robots. Spy Command has noticed, and sent the player out to deal with them.

Gameplay has two main modes. When exploring, the player is visible on the map, and can move around and shoot at robots in 8 directions. There are various buildings scattered around the map with various minigames, and Spy Command will direct the player to a specific one. (Other buildings can be entered and other minigames played, it just won't advance the story.) Completing an area also earns spy equipment to make the exploration easier.

There are six minigames, each in two different locations with a different appearance but similar gameplay. Minigames include:

  • The lab / Power plant: This is a Bubble Bobble type game. The player launches color-coded words into the playfield to match 3 or more similar words, which will cause them to disappear.
  • Dol's Restaurant / Octopus: The player chooses a number to launch, as well as a direction and power, then will launch that number at a target, attempting to reach the given value for each target.
  • Software Company / Airport: The player travels down a path in a first-person view. They are given a category, such as "US States", and needs to find ten names for that category, and either run into or shoot those names. Shooting an incorrect name will subtract a point, so the player will need to collect an extra correct answer.
  • Robot Factory / Map Room: The player arranges tiles on a board, so four in a row relate to the same event. After moving a tile, a new tile is added to the board.
  • Ancient Library / Funhouse: A rebus game. The player will be presented with 4 puzzles, and asked to figure out the word being suggested for each one. After making guesses, the player can hit a button to see which guesses were correct. If all guesses are correct, the player will win the game.
  • Clock Tower / Recording Studio: The player is given a word via speech, then asked to spell it by grabbing the correct letters as they fly in from 4 different directions.
