Kingdom: New Lands

Kingdom: New Lands is a single-player side-scrolling strategy and resource management game. The story places the player in the role of a monarch who arrives on a mysterious shore with only a crown and a loyal steed. The ruler must establish a new settlement, defend their people, and ultimately secure the means to journey to other islands. Survival depends on careful planning and the ability to withstand nightly assaults from the Greed, hostile creatures intent on stealing wealth and the monarch’s crown.

The core gameplay involves exploring the landscape on horseback, distributing coins to recruit wandering peasants, and assigning them professions by purchasing tools or weapons. Workers can become archers to hunt wildlife and defend walls, builders to construct fortifications, or farmers to provide a stable income. Coins function as the central resource and are collected through hunting, farming, or treasure chests scattered across the land. Losing the monarch’s crown results in the end of the current campaign, making resource allocation and defense placement crucial.

Progression is tied to expanding the settlement from a campfire to a fortified kingdom. Players invest in walls, towers, and farms, while also funding upgrades to the central keep, which unlocks stronger defenses and more advanced units. Portals in the wilderness spawn waves of Greed, and these must eventually be destroyed to fully secure the land. At the same time, exploration reveals mounts, hermits, and special resources that provide unique advantages.

Additional systems include the cycle of day and night, with daytime dedicated to building and resource gathering and nighttime focused on withstanding attacks. Each island introduces harsher challenges, different layouts, and new opportunities, requiring players to balance risk and reward when venturing into the wilderness. Seasons also affect survival, with winter drastically reducing income and food supply.
