Krabat

Description
The first computer game that was created in two Sorbian languages - Upper Sorbian and Lower Sorbian - spoken by a small ethnic group of Slavic people, formerly known as Wends, who inhabit the historical region of Lusatia in the current Easter Germany. The game was created by young Sorbian enthusiasts who created a team 'Rapaki' in order to promote their culture through the modern media and was published by a local cultural foundation called 'Stiftung für das sorbische Volk'.
Krabat is the name of a character in Sorbian folklore - a folk hero and beneficial trickster who lived in the 17th -18th centuries, when Lusatia has been placed under Saxonian rule by Augustus the Strong. The stories of Krabat's adventures have been adapted in the 20th c. into several novels, children books and motion pictures, and the game is loosely based on those novels. We play as Krabat who is a poor geese shepherd in the beginning of the game - in order to survive in winter, he decides to become an apprentice of the local miller who is rumored to be an evil sorcerer... The events take place in about 1698, and we get to visit many historical places in Lusatia and Saxony, including Dresden. The gameplay is that of a pure point-and-click adventure game, with collecting and using items and talking to characters (both historical and mythical).
