Left 4 Dead 3

Description

Left 4 Dead 3 is a canceled first-person zombie co-op shooter that would have been the third main instalment in the Left 4 Dead series, following Left 4 Dead 2. Unlike having linear levels like the previous instalments, L4D3 would have seen players fighting through an open world. The game was in development from 2013 to 2014, and (as of 2013) had almost 30 developers working on the project, but was canceled due to the instability of the then in-progress Source 2 engine.

Although details about the story and setting were scarce, online rumors stated that the game would take place in a Moroccan-inspired environment. In 2020, the interactive documentary The Final Hours of Half-Life: Alyx, which chronicles Valve's canceled projects between the release of Half-Life 2: Episode Two in 2007 and Half-Life: Alyx in 2020, confirmed that Left 4 Dead 3 had indeed been set in Morocco, but was canceled due to Source 2 being unable to support full-scale development at that time.
