Loco Motion

Loco Motion is a 1-player arcade game for the BBC Micro and Electron.

Game play consists of either arcade or adventure format, with 4 levels of difficulty for each type. The game consists of multiple screens of railroad tracks, and the player can switch tracks at switches.

In arcade mode, the player controls an out of control locomotive. The player can switch tracks at railroad switches, and can bounce their train off of railroad bumpers. The player receives 10 points for every new screen they explore, but if the train goes off the track it's game over. At higher levels the screen is dark, and the player can't see the track.

In adventure mode, the player has limited fuel and water. The goal is to find and hitch up to the gold car. Train robbers will attack the car unless the sheriff car is hooked up to the train. Broken bridges can be repaired by bringing repair trucks to the site. Gold needs to be brought back to the bank, and then the player goes out in search for more gold.
