Game cover: Magic Inlay

Description

Magic Inlay is a single player, mouse controlled, side scrolling inlay puzzle game.

There are three episodes to the game Dragon Land; Fantasy Valley; Fairy Isles. Each has a different set of tiles, a different end of level boss and can be played on now of three difficulty settings and the player also has a choice of three starting bonuses.

Each episode consists of a series of side scrolling 2D screens containing grey shapes, these roll in and stop until a shape has been filled. Beneath shapes scroll right to left which the player selects and drops into the grey outlines above. Pieces that the player cannot use will clog up the conveyor belt area and end the game so there's an option to move unwanted pieces into the Drop Section. Alternatively the player may use a magic hammer to destroy unwanted shapes or a magic wand to create a missing piece , some hammers and wands are supplied at the start of the game and more are awarded as in-game bonuses.

When a mosaic is completed the shapes usually move right to left to reveal another mosaic but sometimes they can move left to right to show a new addition to an already completed mosaic. 'Floating' around among the mosaics are bonus items which are earned when mosaics are completed, some of these are traditional gems but others such as birds and coffee grinders are a little bizarre.

Each episode consists of a series of levels which end with an end of level boss, these can shoot balls of fire that destroy tiles on the conveyor or in part completed mosaics, they can disable the Drop Section or cover the conveyor with fog (pieces can still be picked up but the player has no idea what they are getting. When a level is completed the player can save their progress.
