Mariposa

You have been invited by Dr. J. R. Prescott to visit the wondrous island of Mariposa, where magical butterflies fill the tropical skies. Or rather, they used to before they were all encapsulated in colorful amber.

Mariposa is a 3-match puzzle game in which the player must match gems by sliding the rows and columns of gems in order to match them in groups of three or more. The main goal is to destroy all the rock tiles on the 8x8 rows grid before time runs out. Some gems contain butterflies which can only be released when used. Matching four gems can create a Chrysalis which will release a butterfly. Matching five gems can create a Super Chrysalis which will release a butterfly and clear nearby gems. When the Frost Meter reaches zero, the frost will freeze a random gem and lock the row and column on which it is located. Using a gem that is frozen by frost will clear the frost.

There are special gems which can help in solving levels faster: Sun Special gem will clear frozen gems, Clear All Special will clear all gems of a certain type, Clear Row Special will clear all gems in a row, and Rare Chrysalis and Super Rare Chrysalis will release a rare butterfly.

The game features two modes: Classic, where the player must destroy all rock tiles before time runs out while also keeping their eyes open on the Frost Meter that will freeze a random gem whenever it reaches zero, and Relax mode, which is the same as Classic but without the Frost Meter and the frozen gems.
