Michael English Daibōken
Description
Michael English Daibōken is an educational game featuring the license of What's Michael?, that started as a Japanese manga series starring an orange tabby cat named Michael.
The game has a story taking place in the year 200x, in which Michael gets kicked off his home planet for failing grades. After wandering outer space for a while, Michael comes upon a planet like Earth. He is shocked by how advanced their educational system is, and vows to study hard on this planet, with the goal of one day returning back to his home planet Gariben.
The point of the game is to teach young Japanese children some of the English language through edutainment.
The game features six lesson locations with most having three parts to them . Lessons can vary, with some lessons showing the English word already spelled out, while other lessons showing a picture of an object that needs to be spelled out or just have the Japanese spelling shown. There are also a few action shoot-em-up lessons in which the player will be shown a word and will have to collect as many of those objects as they can and shoot at any other object that isn't the displayed word.
During gameplay, Michael will need to collect the correct letters to spell a series of English words. If the player chooses the wrong letter they may lose health if they don't jump out of the way of an attack or shoot away the attacker. Michael can even die if too much health is lost.
The player will be graded on each level with one of four ratings, either Death, Fight, Good, or Great. The player must score Great on all the levels in order to see the ending of the game.
