Mighty Math: Carnival Countdown
Description
Mighty Math: Carnival Countdown is an educational game in the Mighty Math series with a mathematical focus. This title is intended for 5-9 year old children (for US grades 5-8 year old K-2 students), and contains five mini-games for learning addition and subtraction, place value, early multiplication, patterns, and 2D shapes. The mini-games can be directed by the computer in the form of an anthropomorphic animal, or played freely without guidance. The mini-games can be played in any order, and has difficulty settings that can be controlled by the player during the game.
Initially the player is required to give a name, which is used for progress logging.
From a main menu you get an overview of the carnival which has five different attractions:
- a bumper car area used for sorting the cars in venn diagrams according to various criteria like car color, horn sound, car shape and driver animals.
- a musical stage where three musicians play instruments that create bubbles of different size and value: 1/10/100, these are used to solve scaled math problems.
- a balancing scale scene where you are asked to shoot objects onto the scales to create less, equal or more weight on the scale.
- a pattern filler where an outline is drawn that the player should fill with matching shapes.
- a circus stage with clowns that you use to solve basic math problems.
The software also logs the players progress in order to follow their learning rate with matching tasks.
