Mimesis Online
Description
Mimesis Online was an MMORPG game with a science-fiction theme. It was set in the year 5692, 600 years after a cosmic cataclysm called the "Day of Rage" caused different realities to merge. Earth was merged with planets from other universes, turning it into a strange world inhabited by a variety of alien species. There were three player character types to choose from: male and female humans, and the unisexual, ape-like hirudon.
Players could buy equipment, explore the world, and engage in combat with various creatures. As the player used a certain class of weapon, they gained experience and access to new attacks. Initially, the player had access only to rudimentary armor and crude weapons, but as they gained experience and currency called "cards," they could access more impressive weapons and equipment.
Combat involved targeting a creature and right-clicking on the desired attack in a drop-down menu. Death was penalized by loss of experience. When gaining a level, players could choose what percentage of their experience would go toward advancing different statistics.
The game included a "fame" mechanic. A player's fame could be decreased by killing other players, and increased by completing quests or killing players with poor reputation. At very low fame, the player would find themselves hunted down by the creatures known as "Sentinels".
