Miss Neko: Pirates

Miss Neko: Pirates is an anime-style 2.5D shooter and the fourth game in the Miss Neko series. Rather than featuring the tile-matching puzzle gameplay of past entries, Miss Neko: Pirates switches up the formula by putting the player in control of a sea pirate who must shoot his way through a series of action-packed arenas. The player's character was the captain of a ship called the Lucky Coin until his chief mate, a blue-haired sharkgirl named Jade, mutineered and threw him overboard, leaving him for dead. Surviving due to the luck bestowed by the coin around his neck, our hero washes up on a nearby beach and vows to pursue Jade to reclaim his ship and crew.

Throughout their travels, the player encounters former crewmates, all beautiful women, who have since been betrayed by Jade. Some of these women are locked in cages that the player must find the keys for, while others must be bested in combat. After freeing or defeating them, the player may add them to their crew, allowing them to move around the map and help the player in combat. After reclaiming the Lucky Coin early in the game, the player can visit the ship at any time to converse with their crewmates. Keys found throughout the levels can be used to access blocked-off areas, while coins can be used with a recurring trader to purchase health and weapon upgrades.
