Mission: SPACE
Description
Mission: SPACE is an interactive centrifugal motion simulator thrill ride at Epcot in Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. It simulates what an astronaut might experience aboard a spacecraft on a mission to Mars. It is played with a team of four where each player is assigned a different role (navigator, pilot, commander, or engineer) aboard the same physical craft and with different buttons and controls that can optionally be used during the experience. Actions for instance include initiating a rocket separation or navigating the ship through a thunderstorm. Mission: Space comprises four separate centrifuges, each with 10 capsules holding four riders. Even though the game cannot be lost and advances either way, there is a competitive aspect between the capsules racing each other.
It is the follow-up to the Horizons attraction. The game was launched with a Mars mission and in 2017 an Earth mission was added with different gameplay, which replaced the Mars mission.
