Monolith

Monolith is a 1-player science fiction themed arcade game for the Apple II.

Your destination of planet Jupiter is finally within reach. Soon you and your crew will land the spacecraft and begin your long-awaited exploration. But, as you enter Jupiter's orbit, your ship becomes trapped beneath the planet. Foul aliens creep creep towards your craft through the twisted maze of Jupiter's subterranean passages.

The player controls a small vessel which moves horizontally on the bottom of the screen, and can fire vertically upwards. Five different types of alien spacecraft move through a series of mazes on the screen. Your goal is to shoot all the enemy vessels while avoiding or shooting down alien fire. If all enemies are destroyed, the player advances to a more challenging level. The player has five ships, and when all are lost it's game over.
