Neophyte: The Journey Begins

Neophyte is a top-down action role-playing game similar to the Zelda games. The player can make the protagonist swing his daggers or swords at enemies, as well as pick up and use tools that will attack enemies at a long range.

Players take the role of Thael, an orphan who has just reached the Age of Ascension and whose mother was killed by the horde, led by the villain, the Grand Malefactor called Vacmatio. Thael has been training under his uncle Aliqus for years. One day, Thael's uncle sends him to the ruins to retrieve a special sword and save a young princess whom Vacmatio wants to sacrifice.

Being a shareware title, the game only features one boss fight with Vacmatio and then players are free to explore all the available areas. The game ends as soon as players move through the western bridge which was broken prior to the boss battle and shows a few cutscenes, as well as offering players to print the registration form to order the full game. Unfortunately, no full version of the game was ever released.
