NHL 96

This release of the NHL series recreates the 1996 ice hockey season with a mix of realistic teams and custom teams, plus new moves and control schemes that match the team members' roles. Rules can be changed before starting a game in any of the three modes:

• Exhibition Mode - Plays a single game with any two chosen teams either against the CPU or a friend.
• Season Mode - Allows the player to play any game that takes place during the 1996 season. The player does not have the freedom to pick any team, only one of the teams that participate in specific games of the season. Later in the season, there is a bracket-structured playoffs tournament in which eight teams will compete for the Stanley Cup Champions game.
• Practice Mode - The player can do tryouts with zero to five players, even a goalie against an opposing team.

There is also an edit mode to create custom ice hockey players cosmetically and allocate 360 edit points across several categories of statistics for both goalies and defenders.
