Octagon

Octagon is a 1–4 player action game for the ZX Spectrum.

The player has been granted psychic powers derived from the octagon symbol, awakening as an Octon, trapped within the confines of a four-level complex of 60 cells. The goal is to rebuild the octagon symbol from pieces deposited in the core of the complex.

Each player tries to navigate a series of rooms to the top of the complex to try to gather all of the octagon pieces and return them one at a time to the entry cell on level 1. Each level requires locating a key to move to a higher level. A large overhead map shows the player's location within the complex.

When moving between sections, the player enters a side-view arcade component, where they must avoid or shoot enemies, and gather at least four tokens to allow movement to a different room. The player has limited psychic power drained by touching enemies. When energy reaches zero, the next player takes control.
