Orwell

Orwell is a chess program written in Algol, Simula and FORTRAN. The game ran on an a UNIVAC 1106/2 computer and played at the German Computer Chess Tournament in 1975 and became runner-up at the first European Computer Chess Championship in 1976.

Microcomputer versions of Orwell running on Motorola 68000 and 68020 processors later competed at the World Micro Computer Chess Championship in 1984 and 1985.
