Pacman Worlds

Game cover: Pacman Worlds

Description

For ages the Pacmen and the Ghosts have been living in harmony, thanks to the power of magical gems. However, the machinations of the evil Dr. Strange brought an end to the peace, and it's Pac-Man's task to recover the gems.

Pacman Worlds is a Pac-Man variant. On each level the player must eat all the dots, at which point a key appears which allows entering the next level. The game is nonlinear, with the player able to take on the levels in any order. As typical for Pac-Man games, Pac-Man must stay away from hostile ghosts, but collecting a Power Pellet allows him to eat his ectoplasmic enemies.

Some of the dots contain fruits, and when five fruits are eaten, Pac-Man briefly enters a "Turbo" mode where he moves much faster. In addition, Pac-Man can jump over enemies, up to three times in each level. Special items that sometimes appear include glasses that grant brief invulnerability, winged shoes that give extra jumps, and a fairy named Oracle who temporarily doubles the amount of scored points. Special enemies include a police ghost, who appears if Pac-Man runs in Turbo mode past a speed limit sign, and Dr. Strange himself, who turns dots into poison pellets that must be run over twice to be eaten.

Each separate world in the game ends with a boss level. The boss levels include additional bonus levels, and bonus mini-games can be unlocked as well.
