Pass Go

Game cover: Pass Go

Description

Pass Go is a 1–9 player game based upon the board game Monopoly for the BBC Micro.

The goal of the game is to buy and sell commodities in such a profitable way as to force all other players to go bankrupt. Each turn, the player drives along the road, as various properties and locations scroll by. The location they land on is randomized by a dice roll. If they land on a hotel, they can purchase the unit if it is unowned and the player has enough cash. Otherwise, the player is charged a rental fee for the property. If the player lands on an owned property, they can sell it for cash, or they can invest money to increase its value and rental fee.

If the player lands on rent they must pay taxes on all owned properties. On the market, the player can buy gold, shares, or land. The prices on these fluctuate throughout the game, so the player should buy low and sell high. On salary, the player receives money based upon properties owned and their rental value. On tax, the player may be charged or received a property depending on commodities owned. The player is charged a fee for owned properties when landing on bills. When the player lands on bank, they can take out a loan with 15% interest, charged whenever they land on bank again. Finally, chance will either reward or fine the player.
