Passage 3
Description
Passage 3 is a puzzle game that combines mechanics of Tetris and Domino. The goal is to arrange tiles by specific pattern and form “passages”. As the main rule, adjacent tiles must be either of the same color or show the same image. Achieving “passage” can be done by setting up all rule-matching tiles in line of either horizontal or vertical axis. “Playfield” always consists of 8 columns and 12 rows.
Player uses only the computer mouse - left click to place tile on the playfield. If a player tries to put tile on an incorrect cell, the lector guides with an explanation of the rules. In case when tile cannot be placed on the cell, it has to be skipped by using right click on the tile.
Game has a time limit and “credits” mechanics. If a player performs invalid move (placing tile on the wrong field or skipping tile that could be placed in the game area), the player's credits number decreases by one or three. Player loses when he has no credits left or time’s up.
Apart from the standard tiles, there are also special tiles: “gray” tiles give possibility to place any other tile as adjacent. “Star” tiles give possibility to delete 1, 2 or 3 adjacent tiles.
The game contains 4 modes:* Construct: all specified cells in playfield must be filled with tiles
- Continue: the goal is to “survive” as long as possible by forming passages since tiles are generated without an end
- Clear: all specified tiles (pre-placed in the game area) must be cleared (by forming passages)
- Classic: player has to place all 72 tiles in the game area
There are 3 difficulty levels:* Easy: the player starts with 40 credits and there is no time limit, but score per each passage is lower
- Medium: the player starts with 30 credits and there are bonus points depending on how fast the player is with forming passages
- Hard: the player starts with 20 credits and each tile has to be placed within 6 seconds limit.
The game provides high scores tracking with the possibility to send scores to the Internet as well as download them. It is also possible to save the game state and reload it using the corresponding menu. There are 8 schemes for tiles with unique colours and images.
