Description

Peggle 2 is a single-player puzzle game with optional multiplayer modes.

The game takes place in a colorful, whimsical world where players aim to clear boards of orange pegs using a limited number of shots fired from the top of the screen. As the successor to Peggle, it continues the lighthearted tone and magical presentation, but introduces new characters known as Peggle Masters who each possess unique abilities that influence gameplay. There is no overarching story; instead, each set of stages revolves around a specific Master and their themed world, with the player progressing through sequential levels to unlock new ones and earn high scores.

Gameplay follows the same basic structure as its predecessor. Each board contains a mix of orange, blue, and special pegs. The player launches a ball from the top of the screen and watches it bounce off pegs, earning points and clearing the orange ones. When all orange pegs are removed, the level is completed. The physics-driven ricochet system adds an element of unpredictability, requiring the player to plan trajectories and adjust angles for maximum effect. Green pegs activate the current Master’s power, while purple pegs grant score bonuses. A free ball is earned if the shot lands in the moving bucket at the bottom of the screen.

Each Peggle Master has a distinctive special ability triggered when the player hits a green peg. For example, Bjorn the Unicorn’s "Super Guide" provides a preview of the ball’s next bounces, while Luna’s "Nightshade" allows shots to pass through blue pegs to reach harder targets. Other Masters, such as Gnorman the Robot and Jeffrey the Troll, introduce powers that enhance scoring potential or alter how balls behave upon impact. These mechanics create variations in strategy across levels, encouraging experimentation with different abilities.

Progression is divided into themed chapters, with each chapter introducing new peg layouts and environmental hazards. Completing levels with high scores, style shots, or remaining balls contributes to player ranking and unlocks optional challenge stages. The game also includes a series of skill challenges that test precision and accuracy under specific conditions, such as clearing all pegs or achieving extreme point totals within a limited number of shots.

An online multiplayer mode allows up to four players to compete in real time for the highest score on shared boards. Local multiplayer is also available, alternating turns between players. A score-tracking feature highlights friends’ results and leaderboards for each level. The presentation features lively background animations and humorous victory sequences for each Peggle Master, accompanied by the signature slow-motion "Ode to Joy" finale when the final orange peg is cleared.
