Penguin Panic

Game cover: Penguin Panic

Description

Penguin Panic is a platformer game heavily inspired by the Super Mario Bros. series. You control a small penguin that wants to save their fellow penguins after they were captured by a helicopter. You can jump (also control the height of the jump), walk to both sides and acquire power ups. Most enemies can be defeated by jumping on them one or two times. If the player touches an enemy, trap or falls into the abyss they lose a life. The player can survive touching an enemy if they have eaten a fish, as it makes them grow in size.

The game has three worlds, each with a boss and 2 special levels. The first world is at north/south pole, with 10 levels and 2 checkpoint locations, as well as a Pac-Man inspired special level. Keep in mind that checkpoints can only be marked once each, and save all your progress before marking it: This means that regardless of where the checkpoint is located, marking it will save all levels the player already has completed, rather than just the ones before the checkpoint's position. This also means the player can willingly skip a checkpoint to complete more levels before marking it, risking losing progress but securing more levels before marking a checkpoint.

When the player loses all their lives, they lose all their progress after the last (map) checkpoint they mark, this includes any of the red squares in the world's map or the beginning of the world itself. There is no way to save your progress without marking a red square checkpoint on your map, or using an external program.
