Description

Photon is a 1-player action strategy game for the TRS-80 CoCo.

The world has a clear social system specifying two distinct classes: the workers and the scientists. It worked well, and the people were happy (at least, the people who's opinions counted). Suddenly, a mysterious electronic intelligence appeared and began to drain the world's energy. The robot, named Ludevide, declared his intentions to continue to do so for the foreseeable future, and challenged anyone to try and stop him.

The scientists constructed the PT (Power Tank) series, a weapon intended to house a worker as attempted to force his way through the myriad layers of Ludevide's stronghold. The fortress is populated by beasts made of plasma and mindless DUPES (Dense Units of Photon Energy). Each of these is deadly to the PT, and successive contact with these guardians will lead to total destruction.

You have just been volunteered to pilot the newest model PT. The PT can be moved in the cardinal directions, and is able to push or pull pieces of Ludevide's castle. The goal on each level is to reach the exit point while avoiding enemy attacks. Power is used for moving the tank or teleporting objects. The PT takes damage when contacting guardian creatures, and this will drain energy to enact repairs. If all energy is drained and the tank is completely damaged, it is game over. There are 15 levels of increasing difficulty.
