Pick Your Plate!

Pick Your Plate! is an educational title that teaches elementary and middle school students about nutrition standard around the world. Players can choose from a variety of countries: the United States, Mexico, Argentina, Benin, Lebanon, Finland, Cambodia and Australia. An introduction screen explains the country's nutritional standards and currency, and then the player is taken to a screen where they can choose from an array of dishes native to that country. The player is allotted a budget for each meal, and must choose dishes that allow them to fill out their nutritional needs. The standards vary by country as does their presentation, which may be represented as a food pyramid or a pie chart. Clicking on a dish allows the player to see what criteria the food fulfills and how much it will cost. There are three meals and the nutritional effects of the food are added up across all three meals, with the game awarding the player based on how many they successfully filled out without exceeding the recommended amount.
