Plunder

Description

Plunder is a strategy game for multiple systems.

As captain of an English warship, the player is involved in a fierce struggle to prevent Inca gold from reaching Spain to finance an Armada. The player moves about a large map of the mid-Atlantic ocean. The player has limited number of turns to sack sufficient Spanish gold.

As the player travels, they encounter Spanish vessels, and can choose to engage in combat. The ship has morale, crew, cannons, and ship condition. Weather is listed each turn. During combat, each turn the player can choose to fire, retreat, or attempt to board. When boarding, the player and enemy ship trade crew until one side surrenders. As the player travels, they can encounter mysterious islands where they can find treasure or crew. They can also encounter adverse weather causing loss of crew and ship condition.

If the player pulls into friendly ports, they must carefully navigate the harbor by moving up or down. If they hit another vessel they are charged $6,000 to repair their ship. At port, the player can purchase crew, cannons, or repairs for their ship. The player can also buy and sell goods to trade at other ports.

If the player's ship is sunk or fails in boarding at any point, it's game over.
