PolloPollo!

Game cover: PolloPollo!

Description

PolloPollo! is a falling block puzzle game for one or two players inspired by Puyo Puyo. Pairs of differently-coloured creatures called Pollos fall from the top of the playing field, and the player must arrange them into sets of four or more of the same colour that touch each other horizontally or vertically (but not diagonally). Each completed set disappears from the screen. Before a pair of Pollos lands, the player can rotate them to better position them against other pieces already on the screen.

The primary game mode is a competitive match between two players (either in two-player same-screen mode or solo against the computer player). Whenever a player scores points by clearing lines of creatures of the same colour, the other player is punished by falling chicken eggs (their number depending on the points scored) that serve as obstacles to completing new lines. Conversely, scoring points will remove some of the eggs if any are present on that player's part of the playing field. The other mode is one-player practice where the sole goal is to complete rows without another player involved.

PolloPollo! was released as freeware by its author. The game features background music and digitized sound effects, adjustable playing speed and variable levels of computer opponent's play, but no high score table.
