Portal Defenders: Tower Defense

Portal Defenders: Tower Defense is a tower defense game themed with Newgrounds' characters and worlds, like Pico's School, Madness Combat and the Tankmen Collection. The objective is to defend the portal against waves of enemies that walk forward on a preassigned path, using placeable fortifications. Defeated enemies leave gold that can be used to purchase new towers and upgrade existing ones.

The game can be played using the mouse to click and purchase new fortifications. There are 3 types of fortifications: Bombard, Laser and Barracks. The bombard tower fires cannonballs that explode on impact, causing damage in area. Laser towers fire lasers quickly into single targets, and are the cheapest towers to place. Lastly, barracks produce tankmen soldiers that will fist fight with incoming enemies, causing damage as well as delaying their progress on their path and being the most expensive fortification; you can also reposition your tankmen anywhere inside the barrack's range. Lastly, you can use a special claw attack that instantly causes a lot of damage to enemies in a medium sized area, as well as stunning them for a little bit; such attack has a cooldown once used.

Towers can be upgraded after placed, increasing their damage, range or fire rate. Barracks can be upgraded to have more range (more areas you can assign tankmen to), produce tankmen with higher attack or higher health. They change their appearance once all upgrades are maxed out (each upgrade can be purchased 3 times).

There are 3 boss units through the game and a variety of enemies, including ones that can fly to avoid the tankmen, enemies that spawn medkits for others and enemies that can spawn more units in the path. After beating a level, your rating at that level (that goes from 1 star to 5 stars) grants you stars that can be used for permanent upgrades that affect all levels.
