Description

Project Gotham Racing 3 is a single-player and multiplayer racing game focused on high-performance sports cars and the series’ trademark Kudos system that rewards stylish driving as much as speed. Players compete on city tracks set in real-world locations, building reputation by drifting, overtaking, and cornering with precision.

Unlike earlier entries that featured a wide variety of vehicle classes, this game emphasizes high-end models. Over 70 licensed cars are available from manufacturers such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Dodge. Each vehicle is rendered with detailed interiors and distinct handling characteristics. Players unlock cars gradually through events.

Single-player content is structured around multiple race types, including standard street races, time-based checkpoint challenges, and cone slalom events where precision driving is tested. Special endurance and hot-lap events are also included. Circuits are based on detailed recreations of major cities such as New York, London, Tokyo, and Las Vegas, offering both enclosed circuits and point-to-point routes across iconic landmarks. The Kudos system returns as the core progression mechanic. Points are earned for skillful maneuvers such as powerslides, clean sections, and chaining stunts together without crashing. Accumulated Kudos increase the player’s overall rank, unlocking new cars, challenges, and events.

Online functionality is a central component. Through Xbox Live, players can participate in head-to-head races, ranked championships, and tournaments. A notable feature is GothamTV, an integrated spectator system that allows players to watch live events, view world record replays, and follow leaderboards. Multiplayer is supported both online and offline. Local split-screen play accommodates up to four players, while online races support larger groups. Custom lobbies and matchmaking allow friends and rivals to challenge each other across the full range of vehicles and circuits.

The game also introduced customizable garages that serve as a visual hub for collected cars. Players can walk through their virtual garage to view models from different angles and switch between vehicles for upcoming races. Each garage expands as new cars are unlocked, providing a sense of ownership and progression.
