Quest 26

Game cover: Quest 26

Description

Deep underground lies a vast labyrinth made by people long gone. They faded away, leaving behind their gold in their former domain, nowadays inhabited by denizens such as dragons, orcs, vampires and such. Your role is an adventurer attempting to explore the uncharted depths and escape with your life -and as much treasure as you can grab. This game is a quasi-RPG that involves maze exploration and turn based battles. You control a single unnamed character and at your disposal you have a generic melee attack and a generic offensive magic spell to dispatch nasties. At any given time you can invoke a statistics screen to check your strength and agility points, both of which are depleted as you move and fight your way in the levels. The maze itself spans numerous floors, connected by staircases and one-way pits. As you progress to lower depths, the game pits you against tougher enemies. The game ends if you return to the surface the same way you entered, with all the loot you managed to grab - or if you perish. Quest 26 is written in BASIC and was published as a type-in program in the British Magazine "Your Computer" in August 1983.
