Radical Bomber!! Jirai-kun
Description
Radical Bomber!! Jirai-kun is an asymmetrical digital board game for 2 players on the Famicom Disk System. One player is in control of a Runner, the other player is in control of 4 Chasers. They take turns moving their units around the board, with the Runner side always moving first. The goal of the Chaser side is to catch the Runner within the turn limit of a game and the goal of the Runner is to avoid getting caught within that turn limit. By default, each unit can take one action per turn. However, the Runner has a number of "Double Move" charges for each game that upon consuming, will allow the Runner to take an extra action that turn. The actions units can do depend on the type of tiles they are standing on:
- On a normal tile (which is a blue square with no letter on top), a unit can move to another tile with a route connected to it. This action is always available on the other tiles.
- On a pink tile, a unit can additionally move to the closest pink tile you can reach by running in a chosen pink route. If there is no pink tile to be found on that route, you cannot move in that route's direction. Chaser units running past a Runner while moving this way does not count as a catch.
- On a warp tile with a number on it, a unit can additionally warp to another warp tile with the same number.
- On a "P" tile, a unit can additionally rotate the routes around it 90 degree clockwise.
Landmines which are neutral units will spawn on the board every few turns and randomly act once per turn. All tile rules apply to a landmine's action. If a turn ends with a unit and a landmine in the same tile, the landmine explodes and that unit is stunned for one turn. In addition to tile actions, the Runner carries a number of bombs and one of the actions available to the Runner is to bomb a single blue route to temporarily destroy it. Double routes cannot be bombed and destroyed routes repair themselves after a few turns. You cannot pass your turn without taking an action.
In the singleplayer mode, you can choose to play as either the Runner or Chaser side and play against the AI. The multiplayer mode is a hotseat multiplayer mode where both players use controller 1.
The game also has a "Construction" mode that allows you to build and save up to 3 custom boards to the Disk Card. Aside from the board itself, the following parameters can also be changed in the Construction mode: the number of Chasers (1-4), the number of landmines which will spawn (0-5), the number of turns a game can last (1-99), the number of bombs the Runner start with (0-9) and the number of turns it take for a destroyed route to repair (1-9).
