Rainbow Islands

Description
The sequel to Bubble Bobble, Rainbow Islands sees Bub and Bob who were turned into human form at the end of its predecessor, attempting to rescue the inhabitants of the titular Rainbow Islands from the evil Boss of Shadows.
Instead of bubbles, Bub and Bob now have the power to cast rainbows, that can be used to directly destroy baddies or trap them underneath. Killing the baddies will leave an item that can be picked up for score. By trapping beasts under your rainbows and jumping on them to break them, you can collect seven different colored diamonds or power-ups for extra speed and rainbows.
There are ten islands in total, seven regular ones and three hidden, with increased complexity and difficulty. The boys must travel vertically four levels on each island, using rainbows as platforms to ascend. Each island ends with a big, bad boss that must be defeated to continue.
Like in the predecessor there is more than one ending, depending on how the game was played. The three hidden islands will not appear unless seven colored diamonds are collected on each level of the first seven islands, and the order might even matter!
