Ramen Bashi
Description
Ramen Bashi is a simulation game that lets the player run a ramen soup shop but also has an ongoing narrative to follow. The games setting starts with a post World War II era Japan where the player takes on the role of a returning soldier Kotobuki Hidezo, who upon returning home finds out his chef father has passed away and after receiving a letter from his deceased father imploring him to carry on his legacy, Kotobuki Hidezo decides to do so. The games follows fifty years of Kotobuki Hidezo's life. Each decade will feature four random story events which offers the player replayability if they want to see them all.
Players get to walk around a village in 1st person and striking up conversations with the locals. Most importantly they must buy ingredients for their restaurant at some of these vendors. The village contains a public bath, a movie theater, food markets, and a tobacco shop to name a few of the local services.
Making the ramen soup involves selecting ingredients from a menu to toss into the pot. The game will inform the player how well the soup tastes after it is made. After the soup is made, customers will come into the player's shop and place orders. Players are to let the pot boil for a certain amount of time than serve it to a customer. After the customer eats the soup, they will comment on it. The player is given some options on a menu on how to react to the customer's comment such as yelling at them to leave or apologizing for the poor tasting food. After a day of work the amount of money made is totaled. Earning money will let the player buy better ingredients so they can make new food combinations. This will allow the player to be more competitive in cooking competitions with other food makers.
The player also has a stress meter to monitor. Getting criticized or losing their temper at customers will cause it to rise and when it gets to high the chef will go into a rage with it having the consequence of having them age poorly. Drinking a beverage will help lower the player's anger.
