Reader Rabbit Learn to Read With Phonics: 1st & 2nd Grade is an educational game for kids 5-8 aimed at teaching reading with phonics with various characters from the Reader Rabbit series.
In Wordville, Reader Rabbit and Sam the Lion come across a parked ship called the Golden Guppy, which they deduce belongs to Sam's grandfather Grandpa Sampa. They journey to follow Sampa's trail to find him and the Land where Lions Roam Free, while the Pirats try to beat them to it.
There are two modes in this game, the Adventure mode and the Practice mode. In Adventure mode your main goal is to follow Sampa's trail to find him and the Land where Lions Roam Free, and ultimate stop the Pirates. Throughout the adventure there are a number of mini-games each of which teaches vowels and word structure. The Practice mode allows the player to play any of the mini-games, without the need to progress through the adventure.
