Scan

Scan is a 1-player card game for the BBC Micro.

The computer randomly lays out 25 cards consisting of hearts and diamonds from a 52-card deck face down in a 5 x 5 grid. The last card is discarded. The total value of all five cards is displayed vertically and horizontally. The player must use this information to infer the value of each card in the deck. The player then tries to lay their own cards in the same positions. If the player is correct they take the computer's card. The player receives a trick for getting five cards correct in a row, two tricks for also having the complementary suit, three tricks for a line of cards equal to the value of the computer's and, finally, four tricks for being the complementary suit. The player's final score is based upon the number of tricks received.
