Shattered Plans

Game cover: Shattered Plans

Description

Shattered Plans is a sci-fi turn-based strategy game developed by Jagex and released on their Java game website FunOrb. In the game the player is put in charge of a space colony formed after a catastrophic accident that rendered Earth uninhabitable. The colony is finally in a position where it can return to space, so the player is tasked with colonising nearby systems and fighting against revival colonies.

The game takes place on a map with each system represented by a hexagonal tile, four coloured bars indicating how much resources each system has (Metal, Biomass, Energy, and Exotics), and a number indicating how many fleets are currently stationed at each system. Conquering a system requires sending over fleets from a system the player owns to attack the fleets stationed at the target. Systems with no fleets will collapse and become unowned at the end of the turn. The game can be played in single player against three computer players, or against three other human players online. Each player takes there turn at the same time, and once all the players are done the turn ends and the results of the actions the players decided to do are played out.

The game has four different game modes: Conquest mode, where players compete against each other to conquer the entire map; Capture and Hold, where players earn points per turn for controlling the Sol system and the players with the most points after 20 turns wins; Points mode, which is the same as Capture and Hold but all planets give the player points (1 point for 2 normal planets, 2 points for 1 neutral planet, and 3 points for a player homeworld); and Derelict mode, where players must control various derelict spaceships dotted across the map for points.
