Showdown
Description
Showdown is a racing game based on DiRT: Showdown. The game is structured around chaotic, destruction-heavy events and offers four modes: Race-Off, a no-holds-barred sprint to the finish line; Demolition, a last-car-standing arena of vehicular combat; Knockout, where players battle atop a raised platform with no barriers; and Crossroads, a figure-eight course designed to create high-speed collisions at dangerous intersections. A single-player "Tour" mode also allows players to compete against AI opponents across a series of three challenge events.
The arcade cabinet features a 42-inch HD LCD screen and immersive audio through “Wreckage Radio,” a built-in music system that players can customize mid-game. Physical controls include a steering wheel, pedals, and a keypad used to enter Bonus Codes—short alphanumeric codes displayed after each race. These codes allow players to unlock additional vehicles, tracks, and upgrades. If a player chooses to continue, the code is automatically applied to the next session.
Showdown supports up to four linked cabinets for multiplayer racing and features online leaderboards. A variety of vehicles are available, with specific selections tied to different game modes. Players can also toggle between camera views, either from a third-person chase perspective or an in-dash, first-person view. At the end of a race, QR codes are displayed to allow players to share their best times on social media.
It is compatible with both coin mechanisms and card swipe systems. Compared to the original game there is reduced class choice for vehicles, for instance no Gymkhana/Hoonigan.
