Soccer Champ

Soccer Champ is a hybrid tactical/management/arcade game, with the peculiarity that the controlled team has a designated star player, or champ, whose career is monitored over the course of the game. Matches are played automatically, but the human player may choose to intervene at any time by directly controlling the champ, ordering around various team members as the match unfolds, or changing tactics and making substitutions. The champ starts in a club team playing the national league and the Champions League, but may be invited to join the national team to play the World Cup if his performance is high enough.

The user interface during team preparation is entirely icon-driven, whereas the match itself is viewed/played from an isometric perspective.
