Sound It Out!
Description
Sound it Out! is an educational simulation game where players assume the role of a sound effects artist. The Beeples of Skillsville are producing movies but require assistance in creating soundscapes. Players explore Skillsville to collect sound samples, encountering characters like Scout and various Beeples, with a central non-player character guiding the activity. The game's setting is a simplified representation of Skillsville, designed for children aged 5–8.
Gameplay involves two primary components: sound collection and sound editing. Players navigate a simplified Skillsville environment to trigger and collect six sound samples at a time, each represented by an icon and description. These sounds are then utilized in an editing bay to complete three-scene movie projects. Players select a movie, choose a scene, and apply collected sounds along with preset filters such as reverb, pitch shift, and distortion. Each scene has a required sound effect, with optional hints provided by Beeple "directors." Completed movies are presented in a simulated premiere.
Distinctive gameplay elements include a sound collection system with a limited inventory, encouraging players to revisit the Skillsville environment. The editing bay features multiple movie projects, each with three scenes, allowing for varied sound combinations. Preset filters are unlocked as players progress, adding layers of sound manipulation. The game incorporates accessibility features such as context highlighting, adjustable contrast, close captioning, and the ability to control the background music, VO, and SFX channels.
