Squad

Description
Squad is a multiplayer tactical first-person shooter with a focus on teamwork, communication, and large-scale combined arms combat.
The game is set in contemporary military conflicts without a central narrative. Players assume the role of ordinary soldiers in realistic battle scenarios, joining one of two opposing factions. The objective is to coordinate with teammates to capture and hold territory, deplete enemy resources, and complete mission-specific goals across expansive maps. Squad does not include a single-player campaign, but it provides training areas and tutorials to teach basic mechanics.
Combat emphasizes authenticity and coordination rather than individual action. Matches support large player counts, with teams divided into squads led by designated squad leaders. These leaders organize movement, set objectives, and communicate directly with other leaders through command channels. Success depends on following orders, maintaining cohesion, and executing strategies as a group. Maps vary in size and environment, ranging from urban centers to rural landscapes, each designed to support combined arms battles that include infantry, armored vehicles, and air support.
Each player chooses a specialized role within their squad, such as rifleman, medic, engineer, or machine gunner. Roles determine available weapons and equipment, which in turn affect the squad’s effectiveness. The limited availability of certain classes encourages balance within teams and ensures that each squad fulfills tactical needs on the battlefield.
The game includes a base-building system, allowing players to construct forward operating bases, defensive emplacements, and supply depots. These structures require coordination between logistics players, who transport resources across the map, and combat squads that secure territory. Properly managed fortifications and supply lines are critical to sustaining an advance or holding ground.
The game features integrated positional voice chat, with separate channels for local communication, squad communication, and inter-squad coordination. Clear and timely communication is essential, as the game does not provide minimap markers for all threats, leaving players reliant on callouts and visual awareness.
