Star Fighter

Game cover: Star Fighter

Description

Star Fighter is an arcade game in which the player travels outside the galaxy for the first time. He is selected to be part of the Military Exchange Program with the Jedh-Nen allies. They can help combat the large number of enemy space stations that are increasingly closing in on supply locations.

After taking off with the Cruise Shuttle accompanied by two crew members, the following indications will be on the screen: At the top of the screen is the area where the player can observe its journey in space, as well as the enemies that try to hinder the mission. On the right is the Fuel and Shield and at the bottom of the screen is the Galactic chart.

Move the cursor to the desired position and press fire to engage warp. To warp to the correct quadrant in space hold the vibrating sight above the static computer navigator. The colored diamond-shaped figure indicates a refueling depot. Squares indicate enemy space stations.

If the chosen location is other than an enemy space station, the player will be confronted with meteorites. Shoot them with the fire button or space bar and aim the laser with the cursor keys or joystick. If a meteorite hits the ship the defense shield is weakened. Should the shield be nullified completely and any new impact is sustained, the ship will be destroyed, terminating the mission.

If an enemy space station is chosen, the player must first destroy the suicidal Urnuth space fighters in the same way as the meteorites before arriving there. Then encrypted sequence of digits must be deciphered to crack the code.

Once the code is cracked the player must traverse the Grid. However the entrance to the power core is booby-trapped. A safe passage requires the use of a small supply of "dummies" stored in a corner of the hall. If the square is red, it is safe; otherwise it is a booby trap. After taking a safe route through the Grid, the player must now destroy the enemy’s Main power reactor and then escape from the collapsing station cavern.
