Star Wars Lightsaber Academy

Star Wars Lightsaber Academy is a simulation game that "trains" players on how to use the signature weapon from the Star Wars universe. Users must purchase the physical toy, the Star Wars Lightsaber Academy Interactive Battle Lightsaber, in order to play the game. Each "smart hilt" contains an accelerometer, gyroscope, and barometer to track the angle, speed, and accuracy of moves, and connects with the player's mobile device via Bluetooth. The app will demonstrate moves for the users to copy, and score them on how well they execute each move. There are a number of possible instructors, including Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader and Rey; training with light or dark side instructors repeatedly will "switch" that user to that side of the Force in the game, which is reflected in the color of the lightsaber toy's blade.

The app has at least 75 missions for the user to complete in single player mode, and gives audio feedback so they don't have to constantly look at their device's screen. A second interactive lightsaber toy can be synced with the app as well, allowing for two-player battles with the game serving as referee. The battle system follows a basic "rock, paper, scissors" format to the three moves: A block beats a swing, a swing beats a focus, and focusing beats a block. The winning player can also perform a special "finishing" move to round out the battle.
