Streets of Rogue

Description
Streets of Rogue is a single-player and multiplayer roguelike action game. The game is set within a procedurally generated city where an oppressive mayor rules with authoritarian laws. The player joins a resistance group whose mission is to dismantle the mayor’s control by completing missions in diverse urban districts. Each run represents a new attempt at overthrowing the regime, with randomized objectives and layouts ensuring no two playthroughs are the same.
Gameplay combines fast-paced action with stealth, hacking, negotiation, and experimentation. Players choose from a roster of character classes, including soldiers, hackers, doctors, bartenders, gorillas, and more. Each class offers distinct abilities and starting equipment that affect combat and problem-solving. For example, soldiers rely on firepower, while scientists use gadgets or hacking tools to bypass security.
The core structure revolves around completing objectives in each district before progressing upward to the next floor of the city. Objectives vary, such as retrieving items, neutralizing targets, or freeing prisoners. Players can approach goals in multiple ways: direct combat, stealth infiltration, bribery, or manipulation of other non-playable characters. Levels contain numerous interactive objects, from computers and security systems to vending machines and destructible walls.
Combat is real-time and features both melee and ranged weapons. Ammunition and consumables are limited, requiring players to scavenge supplies or purchase them from shops. Health and money management play an important role, as poor planning can lead to failure. Permanent death reinforces the roguelike structure, though progression systems unlock new characters, traits, and items for future runs.
A morality system tracks player actions, allowing indiscriminate violence or peaceful solutions. Characters can recruit allies to fight alongside them, persuade NPCs through dialogue, or sabotage rival gangs to shift power balances. Environmental hazards, such as fires and explosions, create unpredictable scenarios that can work for or against the player.
Multiplayer is supported both locally and online, allowing cooperative playthroughs where players work together or compete for resources and mission objectives.
